We are pleased to announce an exhibition LIVING ROOM + THE BLUE HOUR by Laura Ortego, as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura on January 28 (Sat) & 29 (Sun).

Laura Ortego is a photographer, born in Argentina. She graduated as a Director of Photography at the National Film School. Her work was exhibited in several countries around the world, she is currently having her exhibition “Chicas” at Galería EL TALLER, in Fukuoka until January 31, 2017.
Her interests are the construction of identity, the passage from childhood to adulthood, migration and the encounter between East and West.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

Living room is a photographic series of objects belonging to women,
where I think of life as an stage where we use objects to play a fiction.
I started this project in my closest scene: the desert that surrounds my hometown, with objects belonging to the women of my family.
Now -after traveling a long distance from the first one- I’m on a second stage with Itoshima’s women objects.
While I work at the residency, there are two moments that I enjoy a lot: one is to stare at the sun passing through my room’s window, the other one is to stroll at the supermarket watching products without any idea what they are for and choosing them just because of their shape and texture.
One day I decide to put these together, and to create a new series: The blue hour (Itoshima).
