We are pleased to announce an exhibition There In The Still by Lærke Lauta, as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura on April 20 (Thu) & 22 (Sat).
Lærke Lauta has studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (MFA) The Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam and Cooper Union, NYC. She is now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her work has shown extensively in a number of solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Asia and the US.
Lærke Lauta works within the fields of painting, installation and video. She works with elements like repeated or slowed-down scenes, loops and surreal or abstract elements, which enables her films to break with the classic narrative structure. The films are visually connected to the tradition of painting, and her paintings often seem like stills from a narrative film.

Lærke Lauta will be showing the video “Triad” in the traditional tea ceremony room adjacent to the Studio Kura, as well as works on paper made while at the Studio Kura Residency. The works on paper are studies for larger oil paintings.
