Announcing Elena Boils’s Exhibition “The Minimum Excess”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition The Minimum Excess by Elena Boil, as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura on May 27 (Sat) & 28(Sun).

Born in Mexico, Elena Boils is an Illustrator and visual artist based in London. She graduated from University college Falmouth in 2012 with a bachelors degree in illustrator and later on from Central Saint Martins with a masters degree in theory and philosophy of Art.

Her work is a mixture of digital and hand created images which explore space as a place where both the observed and the imagined come to be. Colour is a key element to the way in which she creates images as well as the simplicity of arrangement in objects.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

The work I will have produced for the time I have spent in Studio Kura comes as an exploration of both internal and external processes of my own image making. The nature of these images is twofold. One,
a simplification process inspired by the subtleness and balance that I have found on the side of Japanese tradition. As well as, the excessive as a thematic which prevails in a modern culture. I am striping my images of the complexities of colour, depth and ultimately finalization.
