Ryuichi Yahagi, one of the best masters I’ve had in my life, will be at Studio Kura on April 19 to talk about Mexican art and teach a Mexican curry workshop.

He’s a really interesting person. He runs a Japanese restaurant at Xalapa, México, and an artist in residence program at the second floor. He teaches art at a university, too. He was deeply involved in an exhibition of Olmec heads that toured many Japanese museums when I was 24 or 25 years old. Around that time, he introduced me to another of the great masters I’ve had, Mr. Kubota (who later did an awesome performance at the Itoshima Arts Farm). After that, I stayed at Ryuichi’s residence in México. Studio Kura is the result of my intense experiences there.

Please come to hear Ryuichi’s talk.
