We are pleased to announce an exhibition Formations by Hong Huazheng (H) on April 22 (Sat) & 23 (Sun), as a result of his activity during his stay at Studio Kura.
Hong Huazheng (H) is a fine art photographer based in Singapore. H received his Master of Arts Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in partnership with Goldsmith, University of London. H reflects a lot on the impact of technology on environments and people. He has a propensity for seeking beauty and the sublime in places untouched by civilisation and technology. In his dialogue with image presentation, Huazheng experiments with different display methods, designing the scale and platform of his work in response to the exhibition environment.
Here are some words from the artist himself.
Formations is the artist’s exploration of his sense of disconnect from nature. In his experiment with the viewer-landscape relationship, H employs timelapse photography to create multiple scenes that hold mystery and potential for discovery. Through a temporal and ever-changing structure, these “free-floating” scenes conjure up a mood, not a meaning. The access to this nature is then mediated by technology, in an ironic attempt to close the inherent distance between the viewer and landscape, drawing us into the heart of the scenes H created.
