Announcing Janet Saunders’s Exhibition “Finding a way through drawing”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition Finding a way through drawing by Janet Saunders on August 26 (Sat) and 27 (Sun), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Janet Saunders is an Associate Lecturer at the Western Sydney University and PhD candidate researching the value of drawing in the creative process of Visual Communication students.
This research has led to her current focus on contemporary drawing practices, visual perception phenomena, and exploring the ‘drawing trail’ through her own drawing practice.
She is currently completing an academic development program that includes the investigation and development of improvisational drawing exercises.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

My residency at Studio Kura is part of an exploration into the role and value of sketching through the analysis of a ‘drawing trail’. This practice-led component utilizes response drawing whilst navigating physically and emotionally through the changing landscape of Japan. I use both traditional drawing materials and an iPad sketch app to record my journey.
