We are pleased to announce an exhibition Cannot be Simple. but It is Simple. by Jinhee Jeon on October 20 (Sat), 21 (Sun) and 27 (Sat), 28 (Sun), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura. This will be shown as a part of Itoshima International Art Festival 2018, Itoshima Arts Farm.
Jinhee Jeon is a painter based in Toronto. She loves to use oil paints on canvas, paper or wood panel. Each series of work capture the time, moments and life stories; they carry figures and full of layers of colours. Her paintings not only show the images of scene, but also reflect sensibility and emotions in depth, and as well as poetry. She is keen on finding a simple and minimalistic way of life, and she likes to apply it to her paintings.
She completed her Bachelor of Fine Art in Drawing & Painting at OCAD University, Toronto Canada. She had several solo and group exhibitions in Toronto and Seoul.
Here are some words from the artist herself.
During my stay in this country side, I let my eyes, mind and thoughts also become aligned with the flow.
Gradually freeing myself from the obsession and pressure piled up in the urban life, my perspective is widened, and carefully tuned into nature.
The obsession and pressure that were also smeared into my paintings are stripped off; the meaning of simple life is interpreted by capturing the light and the breath onto the canvas.
