We are pleased to announce an exhibition 13 Hours by Madelyn Barrante on June 22(Sat.) & 23(Sun.), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.
Madelyn Barrante recently studied art education and received her degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the USA. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts focusing in painting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Madelyn lives in a rural community outside Johnstown Pennsylvania. Her work is an insight of family and interpersonal connections, focusing on how these connections grow, change, and break and the impact they have on the life of an individual over a period of time.
Madelyn Barrante is doing a surface level culture investigation of two rural communities separated by almost 7,000 miles and a 13 hour time difference. Barrante visually compares surface level images of her rural community in Pennsylvania to those she has taken in Itoshima. Her goal is to visual show culture is much more than surface appearance and the same is true for its community and their members.
