テキサス・ニクソン＝ケイン（Texas Nixon-Kain、she/they）とニキ・ヴェラル（Niki Verrall、she/her）は、オーストラリアのナーム（メルボルン）を拠点に、ダンスやミクストメディア、パフォーマンスを用いて共同制作を行う新進気鋭のアーティストです。二人は身体、想像力、そしてモノを媒体として、知覚や存在の再構築に関心を寄せています。また、互いの個人的な文脈が絶えず変化していく中で、コラボレーションや共有する身体知を探求しています。 テキサスとニキは2021年から共同制作を開始し、それぞれがアンジェラ・ゴー、レベッカ・ジェンセン、アイヴィー・ウォーン、サラ・エイケンなど、他のアーティストの作品にも参加しています。パフォーマーとしては、メルボルン・フリンジ・フェスティバル、ラ・プラス・ド・ラ・ダンス・トゥールーズ、ライブワークス・フェスティバル、キャリッジワークス、セメンタ22、シドニー・フェスティバル、ナウ・オア・ネバー・フェスティバル2024、オーストラリア国立美術館、ニューサウスウェールズ州立美術館、ビビッド・シドニー、ピッチ・ミュージック・フェスティバルなど、オーストラリア国内外の様々なアートスペースで公演を行っています。 テキサスとニキは最近、イアン・ポッター文化信託基金（Ian Potter Cultural Trust）の奨学金を受賞し、2025年には日本のDance Base Yokohamaとスタジオクラでアーティスト・イン・レジデンスを行う予定です。 二人は共にシドニー・ダンス・カンパニーのプレ・プロフェッショナル・イヤー・プログラムを修了し、2021年にコンテンポラリーダンスの上級ディプロマを取得しました。
Texas Nixon-Kain (she/they) and Niki Verrall (she/her) are emerging artists working collaboratively with dance, mixed media, and performance in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Together they work with the body, imagination, and objects, with an interest in the reconfiguration of perception and presence. Their shared practice considers the continuous evolution of their individual contexts when approaching their collaboration and combined bodily knowledge. Texas and Niki have worked collaboratively since 2021 and have each contributed to the work of other artists, notably Angela Goh, Rebecca Jensen, Ivey Wawn, and Sarah Aiken. As performers, they have performed in various arts spaces across Australia and beyond, including Melbourne Fringe Festival, La Place de la Danse Toulouse, Liveworks Festival, Carriageworks, Cementa22, Sydney Festival, Now or Never Festival 2024, National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of NSW, Vivid Sydney, & Pitch Music Festival. Texas and Niki are recent recipients of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust scholarship and will be undertaking artistic residencies at Dance Base Yokohama and Studio Kura in Japan in 2025. They are both graduates of Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year Program, where they acquired an Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Dance in 2021.
