As a duo, they explore the grey zones—those in-between spaces where comfort meets disorientation, and where emotional anesthesia merges with hyper-intensity, playing on the tension between the ridiculous and the serious.
At Studio Kura, they will develop an installation that combines the world of casinos and gambling with the standardization of commercial zones. These generic spaces act as strangely familiar emotional anchors for expatriates seeking stability in an unfamiliar territory. Their project will examine the links between addiction and comfort, and how we attempt to inhabit emptiness when our attachments falter.
