Studio Kura では、ファストファッションに対する抵抗を題材としたシリーズに取り組みます。このプロジェクトでは、自然・文化・個人のアイデンティティを尊重した素材で独自のスタイルを再定義する人々の物語を描きます。彼らは廃棄よりも職人技と再生を、均質化よりも文化的・個人的アイデンティティを重んじています。その姿勢は、コミュニティの中で敬意と持続可能性をもって生きることを促します。
本シリーズの目的は、地球環境の劣化に私たちがどのように関与しているのかを問いかけ、河川・湖・海へと流れ込む有害な廃棄物の潮流をどう転換できるかを議論するきっかけを作ることです。
I am a social commentary artist working with paint and ink on linen, canvas and paper.
My work is generally large, representational, figurative, and colourful.
I also create 3D works in metal, wood, textile and paper focussing on social/political issues.
At Studio Kura, I will be working on a series about resistance to fast fashion and its personal, cultural, and environmental harms.
The stories are about people who redefine clothing style with materials that respect nature, culture and personal identity.
They value craftsmanship and renewal over waste, and cultural and personal identity over homogeneity.
Their stories encourage acts of respectful, and sustainable living within the community.
The intent of the series is to encourage discussion about our role in contributing to the degradation of the planet and how our interaction with the influencing factors at play can turn the tide of noxious garbage finding its way into our rivers, lakes and seas worldwide.
