顔料を生のリネンに水彩のような流動性で重ね、ダイナミックな筆致を用いる手法は、イメージとプロセスの対話に作品そのものの素材を積極的に参加させるための、意図的な選択です。
Studio Kuraでのレジデンス期間中には、糸島の豊かな自然とその環境からインスピレーションを得て、新たな作品を制作する予定です。
Betsey Kilpatrick is an emerging artist based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She studied her Masters in painting at the Royal College of Art in London (2020).
In her practice there is often an investigation into the unspoken connection between nature and our consciousness. The paintings rekindle the familiar sense of a connection with nature; spiralling forms of whirlpools and galaxies look as though they are extending beyond the frame.
Painting with pigment on raw linen with a fluidity reminiscent of watercolour and dynamic mark-making, is a deliberate choice to let the surface itself participate in the dialogue between the image and the process.
During her residency at Studio Kura she would like to create new work inspired by the her surroundings and nature of Itoshima.
