Ju Yi Chia is a visual artist and art professor based in Taiwan whose work embodies the essence of a “spiritual voyager,” exploring self-discovery, nature, and cultural reflection. Holding an MFA in Fine Arts Studio from Rochester Institute of Technology and an Ed.D. in Art Education from the University of Georgia, Ju Yi’s artistic journey is fueled by a deep reverence for the human soul.
Ju Yi’s art, profoundly influenced by Jungian psychology, reflects the essence of Abstract Expressionism. Her creative process involves a delicate dance between objective self-analysis and subjective self-expression. Ju Yi’s work traces the dialogue between the human self and nature within the flow of time, responding to an inner quest. Through layered lines and colors, her work captures fleeting energy, revealing an interplay between consciousness and the subconscious. Brushstrokes flow and interweave, shaping a dynamic and evolving visual realm that oscillates between geometric order and intuitive spontaneity, ultimately drawing the viewer into a space of wandering, immersion, and transformation.
During her residency at Studio Kura, Ju Yi will seek inspiration from the natural elements and landscapes of Itoshima, weaving them into a new body of work shaped by a meditative, Eastern-influenced approach—continuing her ongoing dialogue with nature.
