Vanna Nguyen（ヴァナ・グエン）は、トロントを拠点に活動するクィアのベトナム系カナダ人インターディシプリナリー・アーティストです。エフェメラルな彫刻から版画までを手がける彼女の実践は、自然界の循環システムや生物学的プロセスに着想を得た学際的アプローチを基盤としています。Nguyenの作品は、生態学、クィア・フューチャリティ、そしてベトナムの文化的伝統が交差する場を旅しながら、アイデンティティ、儀式、祝祭を探求します。
Studio Kuraでのレジデンス期間中は、バイオマテリアルを用いた彫刻作品と、雨水に集まる微細な残骸を通して日本の梅雨を記録するアンソタイプ・シリーズの制作に取り組む予定です。
Vanna Nguyen is a queer Vietnamese-Canadian interdisciplinary artist based in Toronto. From ephemeral sculpture to printmaking, her practice is rooted in a cross-disciplinary approach to artmaking inspired by cyclical systems in nature and biological processes. Nguyen’s work navigates the intersections of ecology, queer futurity, and Vietnamese cultural traditions as an exploration of identity, ritual, and celebration.
For her residency at Studio Kura, she will work on a biomaterial sculpture and a series of anthotypes documenting Japan’s rainy season through the debris that collects in rainwater.
