Anna(t)（Maria）Mar(a)tkovich（通称 Mrs. Kovich）は、言語・物質性・日常の実存主義を扱う、遊牧的なアーティスト／作家／イラストレーター／文化研究者です。テキスト、版画、ニューメディア、彫刻、インスタレーションなどの手法を用い、銀河の果て、世界の終わりで、社会／身体という集合的な存在の中で「生きるとは何か」を探究しています。
Studio Kuraでの滞在中は、「nature knows nothing of death（自然は死を知らない）」というアーティストブックに取り組みます。本作は、パステルによる抽象画とテキストの断片を組み合わせ、ユーモアと哀愁、美と日常の些細さを行き来しながら、ジェノサイドの時代における「生きること」「作ること」「目撃すること」に向き合おうと試みます。
このプロジェクトのタイトルは、アメリカの作家ゾラ・ニール・ハーストンの言葉を引用したものです。
Anna(t) (maria) Mar(a)tkovich (aka mrs. Kovich). A nomadic artist, writer, illustrator and cultural researcher working with language, materiality and everyday existentialism; Employing text, print, new media, sculpture and installation she explores what it is to exist in a social/body, a collection of beings, at the edge of the galaxy, at the end of the world.
While in Studio Kura they will be working on “nature knows nothing of death” an artist book bringing together pastel abstractions and textual soundbites, humor and melancholy, beauty and the banal – attempting to grapple and dela.with living, making and witnessing in times of genocide.
The title of the project is a quote of American writer Zora Neal Hurston
