Nateとして知られる彼女は、文章、サウンド、ビジュアルメディアを横断して活動するマルチディシプリナリーなストーリーテラーです。
もともとはペンやQWERTYキーボードを使った執筆から活動を始め、そこに彼女の思想や表現が最も鮮やかに刻まれてきました。しかし、ベルリン自由大学（Freie Universität Berlin）で視覚・メディア人類学の修士課程を修める中で、彼女の表現言語は映像や写真へと広がっていきました。
彼女の制作は、自身の生きた経験、社会心理学、そして文化や人間のあり方に潜む繊細な政治性に根ざしています。民族誌映画の作品には、Discovery Channelの支援を受けて制作された『DementiaVille』のほか、『A Digital Promise』や『50 Shades of SG』などがあります。また、ポッドキャスト『(IN)visible lines』では、文化や社会における従来とは異なる視点のテーマを探求しています。NateはDJとして音楽キュレーションも行い、電子音楽の制作にも強い関心を持っています。近年は、自伝のゴーストライターとしても活動しています。
Studio Kuraでのレジデンス期間中は、文化人類学、個人的体験、ルポルタージュの境界を曖昧にする「クリエイティブ・ノンフィクション」をさらに探究し、テキストとビジュアルがどのように交差し得るのかを実験的に試みたいと考えています。
Known as Nate, she is a multi-disciplinary storyteller working across writing, sound and visual media. Starting out by welding the pen or the QWERTY keyboard, her ideals and expressions are most vividly scribed; however, when she pursued her Master’s in Visual and Media Anthropology at Freie Universität Berlin, her language of expression expanded to film and photography.
Her practice is rooted in lived experience, social psychology and the subtle politics of culture and the human condition. Her ethnographic films include DementiaVille, a production supported by Discovery Channel, alongside other productions such as A Digital Promise and 50 Shades of SG. Her podcast, (IN)visible lines, explores unconventional themes in culture and society. Nate curates music on DJ decks and is drawn to electronic music production. In recent years, she has also worked as a ghostwriter for autobiographies.
During her residency at Studio Kura, she hopes to further explore creative non-fiction — blurring anthropology, experience and reportage — and to experiment with how text and visuals might intersect.
