「cautionary tales」は世界を動かし、あなたの足を引きずりながら連れて行き、やがてふっと手放します。
この作品は、路面標示、禁止標識、行き交う車両、そしてさまざまな基準点からなる風景を再び息づかせるインスタレーションです。いくつもの「街の物語」によって構成され、「cautionary tales」は道路標示や標識の構成や重なりを観察し、人工的に作られた環境の現実に問いを投げかけながら、歩く人々や通り過ぎる車両の動きを新たに描き直します。
この作品は、周囲の環境を形づくる線や形を語り直します。それは危険を知らせる警告の言語を用い、秩序と安全を求めて訴えかけます。
空想にふけっている場合ではありません——「cautionary tales」は、足元に目を向け、自分が立っている地面を観察することを強く促します。
cautionary tales puts the world into motion, drags you by your feet and then lets you slip away. It is an installation which reanimates the landscape of road markings, prohibitive signs, moving vehicles and reference points. Composed of several tales of the street, cautionary tales observes the compositions and layers of road markings and signs, challenges the realities of the built environment and remaps the steps of pedestrians strolling through and vehicles flying by. The work recounts the lines and shapes which mark the surrounding environment. It speaks the language of warning for danger, pleading for order and safety. Get your head out of the clouds – cautionary tales forces you to look down and observe the ground beneath your feet.
