Borders / Fronteras は、詩人・言語学者のタニア・マルケスと、音楽家・写真家・サウンドアーティストのノア・ディーン・ジョーダンによる共同プロジェクトです。
彼らの活動は、歩くこと、耳を澄ますこと、そして特定の土地や地域コミュニティとの関わりの中で創作を行うことを通して、その土地を探求する実践から生まれています。この視点から、「境界（Borders / Fronteras）」とは、言語、生態系、記憶、そして共同体の経験によって形づくられる、生きていて絶えず変化し続ける空間として捉えられています。
彼らの学際的な実践は、詩、サウンド、フィールドレコーディング、パフォーマンス、映像、写真、コラージュなど、多様な表現手法を組み合わせたものであり、地域社会との協働プロセスと、その土地に対する丁寧な関わりを基盤としています。
自然に根ざしたライティングや、身体感覚を伴うリスニングを通して、人間以外の生命や自然のリズムを創造の主体的な存在として捉えています。彼らの作品は、土地がどのように言葉を生み出すのか、記憶がどのように風景の中に宿るのか、そして芸術的実践がいかにして人々の対話や省察、変容のための共有空間を生み出すことができるのかを探求しています。
Borders / Fronteras is a collective project between poet and linguist Tania Márquez and musician, photographer, and sound artist Noah Dean Jordan. Their work emerges from a situated exploration of territory through walking, listening, and creating in relation to specific landscapes and communities. From this perspective, borders are understood as living, shifting spaces shaped by language, ecology, memory, and collective experience.
Their interdisciplinary practice brings together poetry, sound, field recordings, performance, video, photography, and collage, grounded in community-based processes and attentive engagement with place. Through nature-based writing and embodied listening, they recognize more-than-human rhythms as active agents in the creative process. Their work explores how territory generates language, how memory is held within the landscape, and how artistic practices can open spaces for shared reflection and transformation.
