身体をお守り、装身具、衣服で飾ることが日常的に行われてきた家族の文化的背景から着想を得て、彼女はそれらの物が持つ喚起的な力を探求しています。そのオーラに魅了されながら、個人的な神話を再解釈し、記憶や口承の伝統と結びついた、親密で物語性のある作品を生み出しています。
現在の制作では、魔術的な儀式や祝祭の伝統に焦点を当てています。Studio Kuraでの滞在では、糸島周辺を中心とした福岡県の民俗に注目します。地域の森や海にまつわる、憑依した物、口承の物語、霊的存在、妖怪についてリサーチを行い、その調査をもとに、自身のクラフトマンシップを生かしたタリスマンやチャームを制作します。
Célia Zahra work stands at the intersection of clothing, accessories and craftsmanship. She worked in Paris and graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in the Fashion Design department, France.
Using various mediums such as embroidery, textile embellishment, feather work, leather, and clay she creates her own fetish objects in her Studio, mascarade
Drawing from her family heritage, where adorning the body with talismans, jewelry, and garments is a common practice, she explores the evocative power of these objects. Fascinated by their aura, she reinterprets this personal mythology, producing intimate, narrative works that engage memory and oral tradition.
Her current practice focuses on magical rituals and festive traditions. For KURA Studio, she focuses on the folklore of Fukuoka Prefecture, especially around Itoshima. She researches haunted objects, oral stories, spiritual figures, and yokai connected to the local forests and sea. Based on this research, she creates talismans and charms with her craftsmanship.
