Mira-Alina Schmidt is a performance artist from Germany, working interdisciplinary in the fields of performance, theater, installation and video.

Mira enjoys taking detours. She sees artistic potential in the spaces in between, in misunderstandings, and in contradictions. Her works are approaches to various aesthetic formats and themes, which are explored and linked in an inter-disciplinary manner.

She completed a Bachelor in theater studies and philosophy, and a Master in scenic research in Bochum, Germany. Mira is part of the german theatre- and performance collective [mostly] harmless and works freelance in independent theater projects as director, performer, choreographer, set designer and video-artist.

During her 8-week residency at Studio Kura, she is exploring concepts of silence as a performative visual language, particularly the oxymoron of “deafening silence.” She is interested in examining various philosophies of the perception of silence from an intercultural perspective.
