Anushka Balyan（アヌシュカ・バリヤン）は、インド出身のデザイナー、ビジュアルアーティストです。
彼女は、感情や記憶、想像上の物語を探る手段として、主に人物画を制作しています。作品では人物が中心となることが多いものの、実際の姿を忠実に描写するのではなく、想像から生まれるイメージを表現しています。シンボルや色彩、繰り返し登場するモチーフは、描かれる人物の内面世界を映し出す要素となり、それぞれの作品を現実と想像のあいだに存在するものにしています。
伝統的な画材を中心にさまざまな技法を用いながら、一つひとつのアイデアを実験的に発展させ、新たな視覚言語を生み出すことを試みています。シュルレアリスム、印象派、そしてインドの伝統的な装飾表現から影響を受け、具象絵画と、見る人の解釈に委ねられた象徴的なイメージを組み合わせています。
作品には自身の経験の断片も含まれていますが、特定の物語を提示するのではなく、鑑賞者がそれぞれの物語やつながりを自由に見いだすことを大切にしています。同じイメージであっても、見る人によってまったく異なる感情や反応が生まれることに関心を寄せています。
My name is Anushka Balyan, a designer and visual artist from India. My practice centers on portraiture as a way of exploring emotion, memory, and imagined narratives. While people are often the focal point of my work, I explore imaginatory visuals rather than literal likenesses. Symbols, color, and recurring motifs become extensions of the subject’s inner world, allowing each piece to exist somewhere between reality and imagination. Working across traditional media, I experiment with each idea for it to develop into a new visual language. Influenced by surrealism, impressionism, and traditional Indian ornamentation, I combine figurative painting with symbolic imagery that remains open to interpretation. While fragments of my own experiences appear in my work, I encourage viewers to construct their own stories and connections around it. I am interested in how the same image can evoke entirely different responses depending on who is looking at it.
