Yelitza Maldonado: Mindful Watercolor Practice and Healing Through Art

Yelitza Maldonado(イェリッツァ・マルドナド)は、アメリカ・ノースカロライナ州ローリーを拠点に活動する、メキシコ系アメリカ人の独学の画家です。13年以上にわたり制作活動を続けています。

主に水彩絵具とガッシュを用い、自然からインスピレーションを得た鮮やかな作品を制作しています。彼女の作品では、癒しや「今この瞬間」に意識を向けること、そして心の再生といったテーマが探求されています。

イェリッツァにとって、アートは自分自身と最も深くつながることのできる場所です。制作することは、立ち止まり、感情と向き合い、自分自身とのつながりを取り戻し、心の平穏を見つけるための大切な時間であり、彼女自身の心の健康や成長の過程においても重要な役割を果たしてきました。

こうしたアートとの関わりから、彼女は「Sana Sana Art」を立ち上げ、マインドフルネスを取り入れた水彩ワークショップを開催しています。参加者が日々の忙しさから少し立ち止まり、自分自身と向き合いながら、創造することがもたらす癒しを体験できる場をつくっています。

Studio Kuraでの滞在を通して、イェリッツァは自身の表現をさらに深め、作品の新たな可能性を広げたいと考えています。また、福岡の美しい自然と穏やかな環境からインスピレーションを受けながら、新しい作品制作に取り組みます。

Yelitza Maldonado is a self-taught Mexican-American painter with over 13 years of experience, based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Working primarily in watercolor and gouache, she creates vibrant, nature-inspired paintings that explore themes of healing, becoming present, and emotional renewal.

For Yelitza, art is a space where she feels most aligned with herself. It has become an important part of her mental health and personal growth journey, giving her a way to slow down, process emotions, reconnect with herself, and find moments of peace.

Yelitza’s relationship with art has led her to create Sana Sana Art, where she facilitates mindful watercolor workshops that encourages others to slow down, reconnect, and experience the healing qualities of creativity.

While being at Studio Kura, Yelitza hopes to deepen her artistic voice and expand the possibilities of her art work while becoming inspired by the by both the beauty and serenity of Fukuoka, Japan.
