Jesse Ng (United States) Residence: May 2017
Jesse Ng is a visual artist based out of Brooklyn, NY. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at NYU in 2011 and has since shown her work in various spaces around New York.
Her body of work is an exploration of the landscape and their interpretation as architectural and isometric objects. From a fascination with scientific illustration, the environment is converted to observable specimens by balancing organic forms with the rigidity of line and structures. Her work expresses our need to comprehend and control our environments but also be unconsciously over taken by them through memory or emotion.
Time at Itoshima and Studio Kura will be spent in observation of the local homes and their interaction with the forests and vegetation. She’ll observe the notion of shelter and the relationship between built structures and the growth around them as symbiotic relationships.
