Karima Duchamp

Karima Duchamp (France) Residence : July 2018

Karima Duchamp is a visual artist based in France. She graduated with a Master degree in Fine Arts and a Ceramic Diploma. Her practice relies on a sensitive combination of drawing, painting ans sculptural ceramics as well as by the enigmatic and subbtle presentation of their picturesque motifs. She is interested in color, the way color fades, patines, wear and ages.

Her work has been shown across Europe and worldwide :
the Salon Art+Design in New York, Design Miami in the USA, in China, in Germany, in Spain,
in Belgium, in Switzerland during Art Design Basel.

She has been awarded several times :
1st Prize International Keramiktage Contest, Oldenburg, Germany

As a member of the International Academy of Ceramics, she will be part of a collective exhibition in New Taipei City next September 2018.

During her residency period she will explore the surroundings of Studio Kura searching for Japanese craft, motifs that will appeal her. Everything will be about materials, and what materials she will choose to work with. She would like to work on an installation with drawings, surfaces that will show the beauty of the pigment, her interests with colors, searching for our magic little treasures buried deep within.
