Kim Karlsrud (United States) Residence: May 2019

Kim Karlsrud’s public installations and (sometimes unsanctioned) interventions examine the broad meanings and complexities of urban ecology at many scales.

She is the co-founder of Commonstudio, a collaborative creative practice with international projects and research exploring the disciplinary grey areas between landscape, urbanism, and public practice.

Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the 2013 Venice Design Biennale. She received the 2014-15 Prince Charitable Trust Rome Prize in Landscape Architecture, and was a 2017 resident at the Headlands Center for the Arts.
