Lærke Lauta

Lærke Lauta (Denmark) Residence: April 2017

Lærke Lauta has studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (MFA) The Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam and Cooper Union, NYC. She is now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her work has shown extensively in a number of solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Asia and the US.

Lærke Lauta works within the fields of painting, installation and video. She works with elements like repeated or slowed-down scenes, loops and surreal or abstract elements, which enables her films to break with the classic narrative structure. The films are visually connected to the tradition of painting, and her paintings often seem like stills from a narrative film.

At the Studio Kura she will be working on a new video installation, as well as paintings of Japanese gardens and interiors.
