Lilly Buttrose (Australia) Residence: October 2016
Lilly Buttrose is an emerging artist currently working out of her studio in JamFactory, Adelaide, South Australia. Specialising in textiles, Buttrose finished her Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2014 and has since expanded her skills through industry opportunities and exhibited throughout South Australia. Having completed two Adelaide residencies, Studio Kura, Japan 2016 will be her first international residency where she will develop new work.
Whilst spending time in Japan Buttrose will be looking into how communities interact with their natural surroundings. Focusing on small human gestures in the environment around Studio Kura, Buttrose aims to portray these actions in needlework on fabric.
