Karen Jiang is a painter from the United States. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and began working as an art and design educator in Boston, MA.
Her work primarily explores philosophies in Zen Buddhism and the presence of supernatural beings in natural settings, in particular, mountains. Painting is a way for her to dig in deeper and see the external in herself. These explorations manifest in the shape, texture and size of each mountain.
Here at Studio Kura, Karen will continue to explore her relation to the external world. She plans to explore, research
and play with local materials, ideas and textures around Itoshima.
