Seb Agresti (The Netherlands) Residence: March to May 2020
Seb Agresti is a Dutch illustrator and designer based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Since graduating from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2015, he has been working as a commercial illustrator for clients such as Apple, Google, The New York Times, The New Yorker and Penguin Random House.
Compositionally, Seb’s illustrations consider and use space alluringly, filled with tones varying from orange to a deep purple. Seb achieves this by viewing the compositions “like an empty stance on which I place objects much like a still life, or with characters awkwardly standing around or looking at the viewer”.
During the residency at Studio Kura, Seb will work on a series of land and cityscapes inspired by the surroundings of Itoshima. After several years of working almost exclusively for commercial clients, it’s Seb aim to experiment and develop a new visual approach to creating illustrations without the interference of Art Direction.
