Rebecca Green (United States) Residence: February 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca Green is an illustrator and author whose work has found a home in children\u2019s and middle grade publishing, editorial illustration, and fine art galleries. In her work, she uses an array of traditional materials including gouache, colored pencil, ink, and cut paper. She graduated with her BFA in Illustration 2010 and has since been working as a freelance illustrator. She has shown her work in Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Denver, Nashville, and most recently in Osaka, Japan, where she has been living for the last year with her husband.

Her work explores themes of memory, storytelling, improvisation, and play. Amongst the books she has illustrated for other authors, Green debuted her first self authored picture book “How To Make Friends With A Ghost’ (Penguin Random House) in 2017, which has now been translated into six languages.

During her residency at Studio Kura, her goal is to reintroduce ‘play’ in her work, seeking indulgence in the process of creation. As most of her time is committed to creating work for clients, this month will provide freedom and space for new ideas and processes to be born. In her practice, the idea of ‘should’ will be left at the door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
