This series of works touches upon the influence of the everyday on my practice. In dealing with the recent passing of my mother to cancer in 2021, the therapy of my artistic process is influenced by my daily observations. With the recent job title as a postman, I found myself obsessed with the beauty of ugliness, particularly in fluorescence and reflective unnatural colours due to the inherent nature of my workplace setting. Working as a postman I further found a lot of materials on curb sides and utilised them in some of my recent works in 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n
After recently driving around a larger part of Japan, I find myself drawn in by so many road reflectors, flashing lights and signs. The irony I see in this, is that they intend to warn and create a safe driving environment, however, at many times I find them to be very distractive.
