She completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design at Adelaide College of the Arts in 2015, where she majored in photography.
From growing up and spending most of her life on Kangaroo Island, South Australia, Roseanne has always had a strong connection with nature. Her art practice has largely consisted of works photographed within a natural landscape, exploring topics on spirituality, dreams, romanticism, and disconnection.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

Ethereal is a photographic series inspired by the traditional Japanese ink wash painting style suiboku-ga, which characteristics include; minimal use of line, tone, and detail. The art of suiboku-ga is not to reproduce something perfectly, but to capture the emotion and spirit of the subject. Through my photographs I have tried to emulate my feelings and emotions of the time I have spent in the landscape of Itoshima, those of a gentle quiet peace. While still incorporating the ideals of suiboku-ga, instead of using a brush and ink, light and shadow became the tools of my work, creating soft forms through the tones of white, grey and black.

Roseanne May “Ethereal”
Date: May 28 (Saturday), 29 (Sunday), 11:00 to 19:00, free entrance
* We will hold an opening party and an artist talk on Saturday the 28th, starting at 15:30.
* Exhibitions by other 3 artists (Tomer Reuven, Stefano Buro, Jem Magbanua) will be held during the same exhibition period.

We are happy to announce Ethereal, an exhibition by Roseanne May, as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio […]

[5,1
162
post-2529","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-exhibitions","category-studio-kura-air","tag-roseanne-may
["GET
