{"id":4804,"date":"2018-09-16T16:11:46","date_gmt":"2018-09-16T07:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/studiokura.info\/en\/?p=4804"},"modified":"2018-09-16T16:11:46","modified_gmt":"2018-09-16T07:11:46","slug":"announcing-caitlin-bowes-exhibition-keep-me-far-from-harm-and-fault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studiokura.info\/en\/2018\/09\/announcing-caitlin-bowes-exhibition-keep-me-far-from-harm-and-fault\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing Caitlin Bowe&#8217;s Exhibition &#8220;keep me far from harm and fault&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1848\/44630645011_c482134b18_z.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to announce an exhibition <strong>keep me far from harm and fault<\/strong> by Caitlin Bowe on September 22 (Sat) to 24 (Mon), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studiokura.info\/en\/guestartists\/caitlin-bowe\/\">Caitlin Bowe<\/a><\/strong> is an emerging artist based in Adelaide, South Australia, working predominantly in the field of sculpture. In 2017 she graduated with First Class Honours from Adelaide Central School of Art. Since graduating, Bowe has shown work in the \u2018Threads of Thought\u2019 exhibition at Signal Point Gallery as well as \u2018The Doll Redefined\u2019 exhibition at Gallery 1855. She has also been a finalist in \u2018The Emma Hack Art Prize\u2019 and \u2018Youthscape 2018 Exhibition\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Bowe\u2019s work looks to translate personal trauma through mythological stories and Victorian Mourning aesthetics. Through the use of casting and textile techniques, bodily fears are magnified and exaggerated, as mythological symbols are subtly used to create layers of personal and cultural meanings. By searching for themes in these stories which connect with her trauma, Bowe blends and weaves these themes together to situate herself amongst a larger cultural narrative.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some words from the artist herself.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nWhile in Japan I have been looking at beliefs and symbols of protection. Ideas that imagery, objects, and ritual can keep us safe from forces that are often out of our control.<br \/>\nThrough sculptural forms I have mixed Japanese imagery with symbols from my own Celtic heritage which explore beliefs surrounding the idea of protection.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Caitlin Bowe &#8220;keep me far from harm and fault&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nExhibition style: Sculpture<br \/>\nDate: September 22 (Saturday) to 24 (Monday\/Public Holiday) 11:00 to 18:00.
