Announcing Bissan Rafe’s solo exhibition: Water Waves Fairytales<\/strong>

\nSome words from the artist herself:<\/p>\n

\nWater Waves Fairytales<\/strong> is an exhibition highlighting the artist\u2019s experience and research in Japan. The research is part of an ongoing three-years long project spanning several countries so far (Italy, Portugal, Palestine, Texas \u2013US-, and Japan), where the artist undergoes cultural and naturopathic medicine research to create a fairytale unique to each region.<\/p>\n

The paintings featured in the exhibition are an introduction or a window into several fairytales written by the artist during her stay in Gunma, Tokyo, Chiba, and Fukouka. The work is heavily influenced by waves and is done using Sumi and\/or India ink.<\/p>\n

The exhibition also features a video\/audio installation portraying the artist\u2019s similar research in the other countries. The ultimate goal of the research is to publish a fairytale anthology written and illustrated by the artist that combines different cultures together through tradition and folklore.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
