We are pleased to announce an exhibition it\u2019s ok to be sad in the summer<\/strong> by Genevi\u00e8ve Lebleu on October 26(Sat.) – 27(Sun.), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura. <\/p>\n

Genevi\u00e8ve Lebleu<\/a><\/strong> is a multidisciplinary artist from Qu\u00e9bec City and is currently based in Montr\u00e9al. She graduated with distinction from Concordia University in Studio Arts (2016) and completed a semester at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem (Israel). Her work was featured in various events, exhibitions and festivals in Montr\u00e9al (Le Vid\u00e9ographe, GIV [Groupe Intervention Vid\u00e9o], Eastern Bloc, Perte de Signal, Festival SOIR, Galerie Galerie) but also abroad\u2014in Israel and in Indiana where she attended her first artist residency in August 2017.<\/p>\n

\nIn this drawing installation, Genevi\u00e8ve explores the idea of psychological trauma and alienation through drawings inspired by Itoshima\u2019s surrounding nature. During her residency at Studio Kura, she has been interested in the actions of looking and collecting and in how these simple tasks can be altered by past experiences. She was greatly inspired by traditional Japanese botanical illustration and by how nature has the capacity of conveying notions of sadness, nostalgia and pain and yet still remain beautiful.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
