M\u00e4r Martinez is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in sculptural painting. Her work dissects power dynamics through the lens of a culturally-enforced binary system, and is informed by her Arab-American and Cuban heritage. She received her BFA in Painting and her BA in Art History from the University of Central Florida. She is the recipient of the 2024-2025 Fulbright Award in Painting, where she will be researching the textile archives in \u0130stanbul to create a series of paintings inspired by the weaving process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martinez has attended many residencies around the USA, and is excited to attend her first international residency at Studio Kura, made possible through funding from the South Arts Individual Artist Career Opportunity Grant.
