Drawing from a lifelong practice of inquiry, her art is driven by a desire to understand how transformation happens\u2014within individuals, societies, and ecosystems. Her visual language leans into symbolism and layered abstraction, often informed by spiritual and speculative thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lavanya’s practice is deeply informed by her upbringing in a traditional South Indian Hindu household, her academic background in design research, and her lived experience navigating worlds that often clash\u2014tradition and technology, silence and voice, chaos and control. Her works explore how the stories we inherit, the tools we build, and the environments we belong to shape our inner and outer realities. She believes in the intelligence of emotions, the generative power of curiosity, and the soft revolutions sparked by introspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Studio Kura, Lavanya continues her exploration into the language of resilience by investigating the symbolism of stones\u2014as objects of reverence, endurance, and stillness in Japanese mythology and culture. Drawing inspiration from the Kamiari stone and her visit to the local Shinto shrine, in her current work she is looking to weaves together the cosmological presence of the moon, the rootedness of stone, and the fragility of natural forms, inviting viewers into a quiet contemplation of power, cycles, and presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
