Isabella MacKirdy is a self-taught illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. She has developed her style over many years beginning with graphite on paper, transitioning into ink, to now utilising coloured pencil as her preferred medium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isabella takes interest in everyday entities, from the overlooked and discarded to the reliable and cherished. She explores the connection between these objects and the people or places that they belong to, or once belonged to. Through careful composition and illustration, her practice delves into how these items depict stories of identity, personality, people and places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2017 she has worked as an independent illustrator alongside her design practice. Isabella has participated in several group exhibitions and was the recipient of the John Shaw Neilsen Acquisitive Art Prize in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
