Desiree Kong デザレ・コンは、ニューヨークに活動拠点を置く写真をベースにした参加型インスタレーションを制作するアーティストです。School of Visual Arts (SVA)にて写真と映像を学び2017年に卒業後、芸術企画団体MaryMary Projectsの代表作家として選ばれ、ダスティン・イェリンに指導を受けました。 これまでニューヨークでのRe：Art ShowやロンドンでのPhoto London 2018に出展するほか、W magazine、Collectors Daily、Dear Daveに作品掲載されています。
Her practice starts with photographs, drawings, and color studies that evolve into sculptures, interactive card games and/ or collages. Her interest is to examine how we connect in a digital age, how it affects our ways of seeing and how these behaviors seep into our physical (non-digital) lives. Using tools of visual association through imagery, she finds ways of connecting genuinely through play.
At Studio Kura, her plan is to complete a game that she has created the past year and translate it into a Japanese edition. She also is starting a new project based on environment influencing behavior, considering Japanese culture, using materials based in the Itoshima area.
