Tais Koshino (Brazil) Residence: September to October 2019
Taís Koshino is a visual artist who works with drawings and its narratives in it several mediums: comics, animation, tattoo and illustration. She graduated from the University of Brasilia in Social Communication with specialization in Audiovisual. Her work has been published in more than 15 books, including Brazilian and international comics anthology. She has participated in several group exhibitions and is also writer and director of two short films. Her comic book Coral was named finalist at Miolo(s) Award in 2015 and her artist collective Desculpinha was a finalist at Transborda Contemporary Art Prize.
With a faux naïf and a little bit twisted aesthetics, her work present beings and universes that seem formless familiar and they are embraced into a possible existence at her visual narratives.
At Studio Kura, she plans to research the impermanence concept exploring the nature surrounding creating a video installation that combines live capture images with animation and the process of its creation.
