Studio Kuraでは、中国出身のアーティストJiayue Yuによる滞在制作発表展 ”Another Dream, and Another with Tomorrow”を開催します！Jiayueが1ヶ月の滞在期間中に制作した作品を展示します。入場料は無料です。
開催日時は7月27日（土）と28日（日）の11:00から17:00まで（27日（土）14:30よりアーティストトークを行います）。ぜひこの機会にお越しください。

昭和レトロガラスは、1950年代から1970年代にかけて日本で生産された独特のガラスであり、第二次世界大戦後の復興期の驚異的な経済成長の時期に誕生しました。このガラスは、プライバシーを提供し、独自のパターンデザインを持っており、建築やインテリアデザインに広く使用されました。この作品シリーズでは、象徴的な昭和レトロガラスのパターンをシアノタイプ印刷で半透明の紙に転写しています。その後、同じ時期の日本の家族のアーカイブ写真を見つけ、これらの印刷物と重ね合わせます。このレイヤリングの手法を通じて、昭和ガラスの窓を通して内部の生活を覗き見るような視覚体験をシミュレートします。一方で、素材と記憶の関係を探求し、「夢の家」や「努力が充実した生活を築く」というこの特定の時代の国民心理に刻まれた信念を反映させます。
Studio Kura is pleased to announce the exhibition “Another Dream, and Another with Tomorrow” by Jiayue Yu, an artist from China! This exhibition will showcase the works Jiayue has created during her one-month residency. Admission is free.
The exhibition will be held on Saturday, July 27th, and Sunday, July 28th, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM (an artist talk will take place on the 27th at 2:30 PM). We invite you to take this opportunity to visit.

Showa Retro Glass was a distinctive type of glass produced in Japan from the 1950s through the 1970s, a period of remarkable economic growth following the post-World War II reconstruction. Offering privacy and unique pattern designs, this type of glass was widely used in architecture and interior design. In this series of works, I transfer the iconic Showa Retro Glass patterns onto semi-transparent paper using cyanotype printing. The prints are then overlaid with found Japanese family archive photographs from the same period. Through this approach of layering, I simulate the visual experiences of peering into domestic spaces from the outside, as if observing the lives within through the Showa glass window. Meanwhile, I explore the relationship between material and memory, reflecting on the idea of “the dream home” and the belief that “hard work builds a fulfilling life” embedded within the national psyche of this particular time period.
