Mar Aroko（アロコ海）は、心と精神を有機的かつ怪物的な身体性を通して融合させる、視覚芸術とパフォーマンスのアーティストです。彼女の作品は、神性、アイデンティティ、フェミニニティ、ボディホラーといったテーマを探求し、自然への深い敬意と生々しく表現的なスタイルが特徴です。
メキシコシティの国立演劇芸術学校を卒業後、20本以上の舞台作品に出演・デザインを手がけてきました。また、独学で絵画とドローイングを学び続けており、彼女の作品はメキシコと日本で展示されています。現在は、プライベートなタトゥースタジオ「tinta.sacra」という名称のスタジオを運営しています。
Studio Kuraでの滞在中、彼女は barcodelsol との共同制作による演劇プロジェクト「Manifesto Solar（マニフィエスト・ソラル）」に取り組みます。この作品は、ライブパフォーマンスと連続的なイラストを組み合わせた日本のストーリーテリング技法「紙芝居（かみしばい）」を土台にしており、メキシコから日本へと続く輪廻転生と自己発見のスピリチュアルな旅を描きます。天照大神と、アステカ神話における女神コアトリクエの両方を讃える作品です。
Mar Aroko (アロコ海) is a visual and performing artist whose work blends mind and spirit through the organic and monstrous aspects of physicality. She explores divinity, identity, femininity and body horror, with deep reverence for nature and a raw, expressive style.
Graduated from the National School of Theatrical Arts in Mexico City, she has acted and designed in over 20 theater productions and has a lifelong background in self-taught drawing and painting. Her artwork has been exhibited in Mexico and Japan, and she runs the intimate tattoo studio “tinta.sacra”.
During her residency at Studio Kura, she will develop Manifesto Solar, a theater project created in collaboration with “barcodelsol”. Rooted in Kamishibai — a Japanese storytelling technique that merges live presence with sequential illustrations — the piece follows a spiritual journey of reincarnation and self-discovery from Mexico to Japan, honoring the solar deity Amaterasu Ōmikami and Coatlicue, the Mexica mother of gods.
