Camille Viviani（カミーユ・ヴィヴィアーニ）は、絵画を中心に制作を行うアーティストです。これまでベルギー、イタリア、カリフォルニア、ドイツで暮らしてきた経験から、自身が住んできた土地の日常的な風景や些細なディテールに着想を得ています。現在は日本の農村部に滞在し、ゆったりとした生活のリズムが自身の制作にどのような影響を与えるのかに関心を寄せています。
美術の正規教育ではなく数学をバックグラウンドに持つ彼女は、直感的なアプローチで絵画に向き合い、失敗や偶然を作品の展開を導く重要な要素として受け入れています。主にアクリル絵具を用い、重ね塗りをしながら、不確かさや揺らぎを抱え込むようにして制作を進めています。
彼女の作品には、曖昧で夢のよう、あるいは感情を強く喚起するイメージがしばしば現れます。写真もまた重要な役割を担っており、散歩の途中で撮影した身の回りの小さな断片を収集し、それらが後に絵画の中で再び姿を現します。
Camille Viviani is an artist whose practice centers on painting. Having lived in Belgium, Italy, California, and Germany, she draws inspiration from the everyday details of the places she has called home. Now that she’s in rural Japan, she is interested in how a slower pace of life might influence her work.
With a background in mathematics rather than formal art training, she approaches painting intuitively, allowing mistakes and accidents to shape the direction of each piece. She works primarily with acrylic, building her paintings in layers and embracing uncertainty in the process.
Her work often explores imagery that feels ambiguous, dreamlike, or emotionally charged. Photography plays an important role: she frequently takes photos while walking, collecting small fragments of her surroundings that later reappear in her paintings.
