滞在中のアーティストLou Amaraを紹介します。
私は、生と死のあいだにある揺らぎや不安定さを浮かび上がらせたいという思いから、分野横断的な制作を行っています。私の作品は、幻想と現実のあいだにある“対のかたち（カウンターフォーム）”によって構成された世界を生み出しています。
フロイトの「不気味なもの（uncanny）」の概念に由来する**「不気味の谷（uncanny valley）」の理論**を参照しながら、鑑賞者にある種の不安や違和感を感じさせることを好んでいます。フロイトによれば、この奇妙な感覚は、想像と現実の境界が曖昧になるときに生まれます。つまり「かつては幻想だと思っていたものが、現実のものとして現れる」ときに生じる感覚です。
そのため私は、物事のあり方そのものを揺さぶることを試み、動きと静止（慣性）を行き来させながら、鑑賞者が普段持っている知覚や認識を問い直します。私は想像力とドローイングの実践から形態を発展させ、ノートの中にさまざまな人物像や存在を描き溜め、それらをもとに物語を構築していきます。
ハイブリッドな存在、幻想的なベスティアリウム（空想の動物図鑑）、奇妙な風景や建築が、私たちの世界と響き合いながらも緊張関係を保つ、いくつもの可能な世界を形づくっています。
Through a multidisciplinary practice and driven by the desire to highlight a disturbance between life and death, I create a wor-
ld made of counter-forms, between fantasy and reality.
I like to create a sense of unease in the viewer by drawing on the theory of the uncanny valley, derived from Freud’s concept of the uncanny. According to Freud, this feeling of strangeness arises when the boundaries between imagination and reality become blurred, where ‘what we used to think of as fantastic appears to us as real’. To do this, I seek to disturb the very state of things, playing with movement and inertia to question the viewer’s usual perceptions. I develop forms from my imagination and drawing practice, building a notebook of figures from which I construct my narratives. Hybrid figures, a fabulous bestiary, and strange landscapes and architectures build possible worlds that both echo and stand in tension with our world.
