Melda Kilinc（メルダ・キリンチ）は、トルコにルーツを持つドイツ在住のファッションデザイン学生です。彼女の制作は、衣服構築、ドローイング、そして静かな観察のあいだを行き来しています。幼少期から芸術的表現に親しみ、スケッチをすることで心の落ち着きを見出してきました。彼女の作品は、感情的・視覚的の両面から自身がどのように周囲の環境を体験しているかによって形づくられています。家族の移民の歴史への意識を背景に、感謝の気持ちを持ち、一つひとつのプロジェクトに最善を尽くしたいという思いで制作に向き合っています。
Studio Kuraでのレジデンス期間中、メルダは7点からなるカプセルワードローブの制作に取り組んでいます。これらの衣服は、ドイツの大学で無漂白のコットンを用いて縫製されたもので、糸島での約3か月の滞在を通して、土地の風景や文化、人々との出会いによって変化していきます。手仕事や自然素材、藍染などの技法を用いながら、それぞれの衣服が少しずつ進化し、日本での旅の記憶が最終的なかたちとして刻まれていくことを目指しています。
Melda Kilinc is a Germany based fashion design student with Turkish roots, whose practice moves between garment construction, drawing and quiet observation. Since childhood she has felt connected to artistic expression, finding calm in sketching. Her work is shaped by how she experiences her surroundings, both emotionally and visually. With awareness of her family’s migration story, she approaches her craft with gratitude and the wish to give her best in every project.
During her residency at Studio Kura, Melda is developing a capsule wardrobe of seven garments. Originally sewn in Germany in her university from raw cotton and over three months in Itoshima she will transform these pieces through encounters with the local landscape, culture and people. Using handwork, natural materials and techniques such as indigo dyeing, she aims to let each garment evolve so that her journey in Japan becomes visible in their final form.
