Chloe Kangは、目に見えない世界に深く分け入るアーティストです。
喪失、喜び、そして社会の中で見過ごされがちな人々をテーマに、私たちが普段聞き逃してしまいがちな声に耳を傾けるよう促します。彼女の作品の多くは希望を宿す器のように機能し、相互理解へと手を伸ばしています。
油彩、インクによる抽象表現、デジタル・ビジュアルメディアなど多様な手法を横断しながら、悲しみや苦しみの中に潜む美しさという矛盾を探求しています。鑑賞者に一歩近づき、細部に目を凝らすことを促し、「何ひとつとして中立なものはない」ということを思い出させてくれます。
スタジオクラでの滞在中、彼女はこれまで試したことのない素材を用いた作品制作に取り組みます。
糸島の自然や静けさから影響を受け、新しいキャンバスの形へと内面のイメージを移し替えていきます。You-Jongは、自身の表現における次のステップを探り、それらの思考がどのように新たなかたちとして立ち現れるのかを探究していきます。
Chloe Kang delves into the world of the unseen. Through themes of grief, joy and overlooked societal groups, she urges audiences to pay attention to the voices that are often unheard. Much of her work functions as a vessel of hope and reaches for mutual understanding. Kang works across oil painting, ink abstracts and digital visual media, to delve into the contradictions of beauty within grief and suffering. She invites the audience to step closer and focus on the details, reminding them that nothing is neutral.
During her stay at Studio Kura, she will create a piece using materials she’s yet to experiment with. Transferring internal imagery onto new forms of canvas influenced by the nature and quiet in Itoshima. You-Jong will discover what is next in her artist practice and how these thoughts will translate in newer forms.
