Studio Kuraでは、香港出身のアーティストDorris Ngによる滞在制作発表展”The weight of a kite”を開催します！Dorrisが1ヶ月の滞在期間中に制作した作品を展示します。入場料は無料です。
開催日時は7月27日（土）と28日（日）の11:00から17:00まで（27日（土）14:30よりアーティストトークを行います）。ぜひこの機会にお越しください。
以下アーティストからのメッセージです。
アーティストによるボディパフォーマンスアート作品のビデオドキュメンテーションです。この作品では、アーティストが昆虫の形をした木製の凧を背負いながら、松末天満宮への階段を登ります。アーティストは、バランスを取りながら、この扱いにくい凧の重さに耐えつつ登っていきます。
木製の凧は、デジタルカットされた木製パネルを用いて現地で製作されました。その形は伝統的な博多凧のデザインに触発され、シンプルでミニマリストな構成と柔らかな日本の色調が特徴です。
アーティストは糸島の自然美に感銘を受けましたが、同時に夏の暑さや自然のサイクルの影響で昆虫の死骸が見られることにも気付きました。昆虫の形を描いた凧が、人間の支えなしには飛べないほど重いという設定により、自然界で起こる出来事の重みを人間が背負わなければならないというメタファーが創り出されています。
このパフォーマンス作品を通じて、アーティストは人間と環境の複雑な関係を考察し、負担、レジリエンス（回復力）、そして自然のサイクルと人間の相互依存というテーマを浮き彫りにしています。

This is a video documentation of a body performance art piece by the artist. In the work, the artist carries a wooden kite shaped like an insect on her back as she climbs the stairs up to the Shinto shrine Matsusue Tenmangu. The artist must balance and bear the weight of the unwieldy kite structure as she ascends.
The wooden kite itself was constructed on-site from digitally cut wooden panels. Its form is inspired by the traditional Hakata kite design, featuring a clean, minimalist composition and a soft Japanese color palette.
The artist was struck by the natural beauty of the Itoshima landscape, but also noticed the presence of insect corpses, unsure if they were a result of the summer heat or the natural cycle of life. By painting the form of insects onto a kite that is too heavy to actually fly without a human to support it, the artist creates a metaphor for how humanity must bear the weight of the happenings within the natural world.
Through this performative work, the artist examines the complex relationship between humans and the environment, highlighting themes of burden, resilience, and our interdependence with the natural cycles of life.
