しかし、新型コロナウイルス以降、イギリスのスタジオワークの状況は変化し、現在では多くの仕事がスタジオでの対面作業ではなく、Zoomを介したリモート形式で行われるようになっています。そのため、孤立を感じることも少なくありません。
スタジオクラでの滞在は、日常的なリモートワークの構造から一度離れ、美しく刺激的な環境の中で他のアーティストたちと再びつながるためのリセットの機会となります。
グレースは現在、小さなプリントビジネスの立ち上げを計画しており、滞在期間中は日本からインスピレーションを得たデザインのシリーズを制作する予定です。これらのデザインは、アートプリント、パターンデザイン、和紙テープ、ステッカーなどへと展開される可能性があります。
For the last 10 years, Grace Hamilton ( has worked as an Art Director and Character Designer within the UK animation industry, with clients like LEGO, Aardman and Netflix.
However, the landscape of studio work has changed in the UK since Covid, and much of the work is now done remotely via zoom, rather than in a studio environment, which can be very isolating.
The Studio Kura residency is a chance to take a reset from the day-to-day remote work structure and reconnect with other artists again in a beautiful, inspiring setting.
Grace is looking to start a small print business, and her time at Studio Kura will be spent developing a series of designs inspired by Japan, that will potentially be turned into art prints, pattern designs, washi tapes and stickers.
