Mary Galbraith’s work seeks to make far-off places feel like home while preserving the magic of encountering them for the very first time. Working in gouache on paper and painting exclusively from her own photographs, she explores the delicate space between memory and imagination, where vivid color, emotion, and storytelling converge. By intentionally exaggerating her palette through a “rose-tinted” lens, she bridges the gap between what is seen and what is felt, celebrating the profound experience of falling in love with a place. Drawn not only to architecture and landscape but also to the people who animate them, Mary finds inspiration in the small business owners, artisans, and caretakers who give streets, cafés, and shopfronts their soul.
