Elisabeth Belliveau

Elisabeth Belliveau (Canada) Residence: June 2018

Elisabeth Belliveau is a Canadian artist and author of four graphic novels. She has exhibited and screened her work internationally. Her animations have screened with Eyeworks Experimental Animation Festival in Brooklyn, LA and Chicago as well as at Anifest Prague, Melbourne Int. Animation Festival and Holland Int. Animation Festival. Elisabeth has attended residencies, including Banff Centre, WSW NY, Tokyo Wondersite, RAVI -Belgium and the National Film Board of Canada. She has been the recipient of the Brucebo Foundation Scholarship as well as grants from The Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec, Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canada Council.

Her practice explores the genre of still life and vanitas; historically, conceptually and through new media approaches. For the Studio Kura residency Elisabeth will create a stop-motion animation using materials collected from the area and local grocers and flower shops. Elisabeth will also explore the potential of 3D printing to create sculptures of the organic materials (like fruit and flowers) that will be used in the animation.
